The Department of Personnel & Training of the Indian Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions has released an office memorandum on the subject of “Periodic Review of Central Government Employees for strengthening of administration under Fundamental Rule (FR) 56(j)/(I) and Rule 48 of CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 [now, rule 42 of CCS(Pension) Rules, 2021].” Dated 3rd April 2023, the memorandum serves as a reminder of the comprehensive instructions previously issued on this matter on 28.08.2020 and directs all Ministries/Departments to strictly adhere to the timelines mentioned in the earlier memorandum. The document is signed by Satish Kumar, Under Secretary to the Government of India.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: Periodic Review of Central Government Employees for strengthening of administration under Fundamental Rule (FR) 56(j)/(I) and Rule 48 of CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 [now, rule 42 of CCS(Pension) Rules, 2021] – reg.
The undersigned is directed to refer to the abovementioned subject and to state that a comprehensive instructions on Periodic Review of Central Government Employees for strengthening of administration under Fundamental Rule (FR) 56(j)/(l) and Rule 48 of CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972[ now, rule 42 of CCS(Pension) Rules, 2021] was issued vide DoPT’s O.M. No.2 5013/ 03/2019-Estt.A-IV dated 28.08.2020.
- It is reiterated that the timelines indicated in para 4 of the aforesaidO M dated 28.08.2020, should strictly be adhered to by all the Ministries / Departments.
